Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand welcome Char Dham Yatra Pilgrims

  • Tourist police deployed at important spots to assist pilgrims during Chardham yatra
  • Availability of drinking water all along the CharDham Yatra route
  • Emergency Medical vans available in every district/city on the Yatra route to help pilgrims within 35 to 40 minutes of receiving call. The medical vans to be equiped with emergency medical equipments and trained staff to provide first adi to pilgrims and transport them to hospitals/nursing homes in case of need. Dial 108 in case of emergency
  • Disaster manageement tema to be deployed to handle any major accident or natural calamity on the entire yatra route.
  • Bus station and parking facilities at Haridwar, Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Gaucher, Peepalkoti, Joshimath, Govindghat, Badrinath, Barkot and Pandukeshwar.

Some Yatra Travel Tips for 2012

  • Please plan your trip well in advance and maintain a buffer of sufficient days to deal with situations like road jams, heavy rains/snowfall during Yatra as such conditions are common in hilly areas
  • Always use services of expert drivers with experience in hill driving and also ensure that yoru vehicle has a fitness certificate
  • The Transport department provides Green cards to vehicles on the Chardham Yatra that are in good roadworthy condition and where the drivers have adequate experience of driving on hilly roads
  • Do no pressurise the driver to drive continuously for long distances withtout adequate rest/sleep. Make sure that the driver does not exceed 8 hours of duty per day and give him a break of atleast 6 to 7 hours of rest/sleep.
  • Do not allow any unauthorised person in your vehicle
  • Average driving speed should not exceeed 30 kmph. This is mandatory on all hilly roads
  • Always drive to the left of the road
  • Always blow horn and do not overtake at the turns
  • Shift gear in time and give importance tot he gear rather than the brakes
  • Drive down in the same gear as used while going up
  • Please check the brakes before starting your journey
  • While coming down the slope, give way to the vehicles going up
  • Use dipper at night and ensure that all lights and reflectors are working effectively
  • Consumption of alcohol or any intoxicant is strictly prohibited
  • Do not use mobile phone while driving
