Govindghat Travel Guide (Char Dham)

Govindghat is a small town in Chamoli district, located on the Joshimath-Badrinath Road. It is the roadhead and the starting point for trekking to Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers.

Govindghat is on the confluence of the Alaknanda and Lakshman Ganga rivers, it is roughly 22 km from Joshimath on NH58 at an altitude of 6000 feet. Hundreds of people, mostly Sikh pilgrims on way to the holy shrine of Hemkund Sahib and occasional tourists to the Valley of Flowers, arrive here everyday.

Govindghat is another important places during Char Dham Yatra, which while visiting Badrinath. Govindghat has gate system which closes during the evening. Many Char Dham Pilgrims choose to halt at Govindghat.
